Toddlers: The New Frat Party

I love those "Y is the new X" statements, and this one's a classic. Suburban Snapshots has a post called "Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party". I have no children of my own, but my ex-gf has two awesome boys, aged 9 and 4 at the time. So, older than the kids described in the blog post, but still unpredictable and fratboy-like.

Yes, lots of plastic cups filled with mysterious liquids. Yes, nobody ever wanted to sleep. Yes, lots of body-function humor.

Mutuelles des Fraudeurs: Paris Fare-Dodger Insurance

Parisian commuters who'd rather not pay for Metro tickets have struck upon a brilliant solution for those (rare) times when they get stopped and slapped with a fine. For six euros a month, you can be part of a transit-fine insurance collective. If you get busted, you can make a claim, and the collective will pay you the amount of the fine. So, if you get stopped more often than every seven months,

Drupal to Wordpress

International Jet Trash will soon be migrating from Drupal 6 to the newly-minted Wordpress 3. By "soon" I mean "within seven days".

I implore our three readers not to worry, though, as all of our "vintage" content will remain... mainly so I can f*ck around with Drupal 7. Going forward, though, new posts will appear as normal; indeed, hopefully with greater frequency.

Locals vs Tourists: Patterns of Photo-Snapping

This Flickr set from Eric Fischer, called Locals and Tourists, shows the photo-snapping habits of visitors to a city vs. those who have lived in that city for at least a month. The blue points in Locals and Tourists signify images taken by users whose "home" location match that of the photo, whereas red points signify images taken by those outside their home area.

Tetris Everywhere: Things Playing Tetris in Real Life

Behold, a stellar photoset of real-life occurrences of Tetris. Should I encounter anything like this in the future, best believe I'll be adding it to this set as quickly as humanly and mechanically possible.

'Honey': A Short Play by Matt Hoverman

I just want to share this video of Honey, directed by friend and former teacher Matthew Hoverman. Director and cast keep it quick, simple and funny. I love this stuff.

Cocktails: This Way

Cocktails: This Way

Oakland International Airport (OAK) keeps its priorities straight, as seen here. It's also a convenient gateway to the San Francisco Bay Area, and accessible by BART. If you don't want to deal with SFO,  consider Oaktown.

If it's good enough for MC Hammer, it's good enough for us.

Album Names Inspired by Old-School Mens' Mags

These album names are inspired by a Buzzfeed article about 1950s mens' magazines:

  • Chewed to Bits
  • Hooked to a Killer Shark
  • Joytown
  • Some Dames Are Murder
  • Eaten Alive on a Bed of Gold

Those magazine covers would make great album covers, too.

Around the World in 80 Seconds

Le Tour du Monde en Quatre-Vingt Secondes (Around the World in 80 Seconds)

Obliterati

Obliterati: a pretty good name for a band.

'LOLetariat' could be their first album.

That is all. Enjoy your evening (or morning, depending upon your time zone).
